The Village of Corrales is a small village located adjacent to the larger metropolitan area of Albuquerque. The village is bordered on the east by the Rio Grande and, across the river, by the Sandia Indian Reservation. To the south is the City of Albuquerque while to the west and north is the City of Rio Rancho. The greater metropolitan area of Albuquerque numbers nearly 700,000, but Corrales is home to approximately 7300 people. It strives to retain a rural lifestyle. Corrales' characteristics are its lush green pastures and horse properties, the lovely historic district with artistic flair, and of course the sounds of livestock and wildlife in the bosque. Corrales is a respite from the noise of the big city, while still being close to the business districts.
Homes in Corrales are priced from $300,000 to over 1 million dollars. The most common type of home in the area is the Pueblo style, either adobe construction or frame/stucco - featuring the characteristic latillas, vigas and posts and beams which make a southwestern style home unique.
