Placitas, Spanish for "little places or little plazas", is a collection of unique communities nestled in the foothills at the north end of the Sandia Mountain range. Placitas is only about 10 minutes north of the Albuquerque city limit towards Santa Fe. "The mountain" is one of the major focal points visible from all areas of Placitas and reaches heights of 11,000 feet. Placitas averages around 6,100 feet above sea level.
Home sites in Placitas offer more land - ¾ acre minimum , bigger homes and a continuity of architectural style - Pueblo and Territorial designs are the most prevalent. Excellent covenants and restrictions ensure that homes are kept indigenous to the land.
Placitas is a quiet, low-density residential community offering spectacular views day or night. Just a small part of Placitas is commercially zoned and the businesses one encounters hardly seem "commercial" in the usual sense. For most commercial needs residents must venture to the nearby town of Bernalillo, the county seat, or into Albuquerque.
Placitas village and its surrounding subdivisions carry on the tradition of elegant simplicity and solitude that enhances the quality of life of its inhabitants.
